Welcome to map2heal ! Map2heal connects users (health researchers) with leading health professionals, providing quality answers to health questions and related services to help you live a happier, healthier life. By helping you find relevant medical information and connecting you with the health professionals worldwide, map2heal provides you with information to share with your doctor and support your health decisions.

Users and healthcare professionals who wish to use map2heal’s Application-Systems are required to register for the service and provide certain registration information to map2heal. Accordingly, we have developed this Privacy Policy to describe our policies and procedures with respect to such information, as well as additional information that you provide to map2heal from time to time. This Privacy Policy applies only to registration data that is provided by the users and health professionals who register for and use our system. It does not apply to the content of the data and files that are transmitted through the Application-Systems (Web + Mobile). The security of the messages that are transmitted through our protected Application is governed by the HIPAA Security Rule.

When you open an account with map2heal and provide information to map2heal, you are voluntarily accepting the terms and conditions of the Terms Of Service, the HIPAA Addendum, this Privacy Policy, and any other agreement or policy incorporated by reference.

Information Received

Map2heal receives the information you provide when you open an account with map2heal, including but not limited to: your name, email address, birth date, location of work, medical degree status, position in institution of employment, area of specialty, medical school or training institution(s), year of graduation, and/or institutional affiliations. The users are not accepted as patient in our system, but as „health researchers“. The optional fields for informations can be added and changed by users, if they like to check the results in different health conditions.

Your use of map2heal is anonymous. Your real name, date of birth, email address, and other Personally Identifiable Information are not visible on the site to other members. You select a name under which you appear when using the Site (a Public Profile Name). You can stay anonymous by selecting a confidential Public Profile Name and by keeping that private. Map2heal uses bank-level security and encryption. More about our security measures can be found here.

Members are identified by a Public Profile Name that they choose and can change at any time. Safeguarding your privacy and anonymity online takes a little common sense. We've provided some tips about how to stay anonymous using map2heal on our "Secure Sharing and Privacy" page.

Map2heal receives information from third party sources that you have authorized or is already publicly available, such as information from medical databases.

Map2heal receives information you choose to transmit to others or information other map2heal users choose to transmit to you through map2heal’s Application-Systems, including but not limited to the content contained in text messages transmitted through map2heal’s Application-Systems. This provision only applies to non-Protected Health Information ("PHI") transmitted through the system. Transmission and retention of PHI is covered by the HIPAA Security Rule.

Map2heal receives information whenever you interact with its Application-Systems, including but not limited to when you log on, when you log off, when you access data, add documents, or when you read a message that has been sent to you. For example, when you access map2heal’s Application-Systems, the information may be stored in cookies, which are data files stored by your web browser on your computer, and/or web server logs and log files, which are records for when you request to view a webpage. This information helps map2heal recognize you and customize your experience with map2heal’s Application-Systems.

For Users / Health Researchers

To receive the benefits of map2heal you will need to create an account. When you create an account we ask you for some basic information, such as your name, email address, and date of birth. Please create here a nickname so that your name is not visible in the network. To add a picture is optional. No additional data is required to use map2heal. We ask for your date of birth because this helps us provide you with a personalized and tailored online health experience. Health conditions and the actions that may work best for you often depend on your age group. This information also verifies that you are over 16 (the current age requirement to use map2heal). Your date of birth is not visible to others on map2heal.

We have a strict “NO-SPAM” policy. We won’t sell any email address you enter, unless you tell us it’s OK. The email address entered when you log into Map2heal is not visible to anyone but you. We use your map2heal profile for changing of informations and recieve health informations from health professionals or medical companies. In this case just your following health professionals may send you any information, their publications and blog textes. You can terminate this whenever you like by delting oft he health professionals from your following list. We've provided more information below about how map2heal may use your e-mail address to contact you.

Map2heal receives information from you whenever you communicate directly with map2heal, such as when you have you have requested customer service support.

How We Use Your Information

Map2heal uses the information received from you to do the following:

  • Update, improve, expand, and customize the services provided by our Application-Systems to you;

  • Improve our efforts to keep the Application-Systems and the information transmitted safe and secure;

  • Use data that does not contain personally identifying information for research;

Disclose any information required to do so by law, or where map2heal has a good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to: (a) comply with mandatory legal processes, including but not limited to, subpoenas and court orders; (b) protect the rights, property, or personal safety of map2heal or our users; and/or enforce the terms and conditions of the Terms Of Service Agreement, the HIPAA Addendum, this Privacy Policy, and any other agreement or policy incorporated by reference.

Except as otherwise disclosed in this Privacy Policy, while you have permitted map2heal to use the information received, map2heal will not share information received from you with third parties unless map2heal has:

  • Received your permission to share the information; and/or

  • Provided you notice about sharing such information, such as by posting this notice.

Map2heal will provide users with thirty (30) days' notice if it has been sold, acquired, merged, sold some of its assets, or has been involved in some other action affecting map2heal ownership and control. During this time period, users can exercise their right to terminate their accounts or remove information in their accounts. If users do not terminate their accounts or remove information in their accounts during this time period, the information received may be transferred to the third party involved in the sale, acquisition, merger, or change of ownership action.

How You Can Control Your Information

You have a right to access, modify, or update information or delete non-required information that map2heal has received about you after you open an account with map2heal and become a user. Required information is information map2heal needs to open an account for you with its Application-Systems.

You can opt out of any feature that sends you notifications regarding commercial, educational, or financial opportunities relating to your account and/or communications.

If you want to stop using your account, you can terminate it by contacting map2heal at support@map2heal.com.

How We Secure Your Information

To access your account and information through map2heal’s Application-Systems, you must have a unique email and password. You are responsible for keeping your login password secure and confidential and not permitting others to use your login credentials to access your account. Please log out of your account when you are not using it. After a period of inactivity, your account will automatically log off.

Map2heal follows a wide range of industry standard security best practices to protect your data from loss, corruption, or unauthorized access.

Map2heal relies on third party services for some elements of its system infrastructure. We carefully vet the services we use and require the ones that handle customer data to satisfy legal standards and to follow industry standard security, compliance and auditing practices (for an example, please see Amazon Web Services Security and Compliance information). Regardless of the level of trust we place in a thirdparty service, we always encrypt the most sensitive data, including customer messages.

Protected Health Information

Map2heal secures PHI that is subject to HIPAA and that is transmitted through its Application-Systems in compliance with HIPAA Security and Privacy Regulations, the HITECH Act, and applicable state regulations. The HIPAA Security Rule addresses security of PHI.

Changes to our Privacy Policy

From time to time, map2heal may make changes to this Privacy Policy or other applicable agreements and policies. These changes will be posted at map2heal.com and you will be notified through your mobile device and/or the email address you provide to map2heal. If you continue to use map2heal’s Application-Systems and services, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of the revised Privacy Policy, or any other applicable agreements and policies.


Map2heal is intended for individuals who are licensed physicians or health care professionals in good standing or verified users as „health researchers“ worldwide who are 18 years of age or older.
